Caught my eye Friday – Sex, super mumming and another asshat

It’s been a good week with another asshat award, some luuuuuurve insights and reminder that life can be far more complex than it actually is.

My two or three readers may have noted the late delivery of this weeks Caught My Eye Friday. Well you see last night I was out “networking”, on a school night just like the old days. It’s amazing how much fun it was last night, and how little it is now. Maybe I’m getting older or maybe I’m just out of practice, what I do know is 11pm feels a lot later than it used to and 6am wakeups after “networking” are not nearly as easy as they used to be.

Melissa George – what an Asshat!

seriously...Please stand and applause wildly for goodgollymissholly‘s latest Asshat recipient – Melissa George. If you’ve missed the hoopla check out this article  where Miss George comes out with pearls of wisdom like…

”I don’t need credibility from my country any more, I just need them all to be quiet. If they have nothing intelligent to say, please don’t speak to me any more. I’d rather be having a croissant and a little espresso in Paris or walking my French bulldog in New York City,”

Seriously, get. over. yourself.

The sooo-oversharing-but-I’m-gonna-read-it-anyway-award

So if you haven’t already met Kelly over at handmadetearsandtriumphs treat yourself. She’s also the featured flogger (I only write that to increase my google search hits) blogger at withsomegrace displaying her penchant for poetry. Her award comes for this post that spoke candily about the chances of her husband getting lucky. I for one have been increasing my tea making activies and massages based on her comments. I also considered asking for the same to be reciprocated to me but then though better of it. Anyway, this post (like many of hers) made me laugh out loud on the bus. Well done!

Get-over-yourself-you-could-have-had-triplets award

Any post that starts with “Having five children under five” is going to make for interesting reading and Caitland over at caitlinshappyheart delivered just that. It goes to show that even under what I would consider impossible odds, Mum’s and Dads figure it out. apart from the Get-over-yourself award, Caitlan deserves special mentions for the lack-of-sleep, trapped-in-the-house and flexible-on-housework awards. Well done.

Another week done, another couople of quality articles. As I mentioned earlier, I’m keen if I’m suffering my “allergy” to networking by myself or if other reader have developed an intolerance as they age.

Oh yes, Melissa George could have a little grace! popping over from #fybf

  2. Kelly HTandT says:

I must have crawled back under that rock that I so often call home, because I totally missed the Melissa George saga! Shame, I WAS a Melissa George fan. Maybe I just won’t read it and then I can remain a fan, down here in under-rock-land.
And thanks for the award! I know my poor husband isn’t looking forward to the jokes he’ll cop at family Christmas this year. But hey, he ok’d the post!

  3. Loved Kelly’s article. Cracker!

  4. Mumabulous says:

    Who is Melissa George?

  5. kirstyrussell75 says:

You’re not alone in becoming allergic to late nights, particularly on school nights. I never wanted to be like this when I got older but man I’m beginning to morph into a party pooper, home early so I can get up early! Love the links, off to check them out now.

  6. I really loved Caitlins post. I just shake my head in amazement at what it takes to do her job.

  7. iSophie says:

I was a big fan of Melissa Gorge too, now.. well.. not so much!

That sex post was gold Kelly!

    5 under 5, -incredible-.

  8. As always, most deserved recipients right there. I’ve never been a fan of Melissa George and that bullshit just cemented it for me.

As always, Kelly’s posts are gold, I wouldn’t be friends with her and endorse her so much if they weren’t, can’t tarnish my sterling reputation can I!

And Caitlin, totally in awe, not just 5 kids under 5 but 3 at once!

I find I am starting to build some allergies to those late nights ‘networking’ but thankfully I have a good anti-histamine of a husband who generally handles his allergies much better than I and gets up with the munchkin. In fact, after being out drinking till 2 am last Sunday morning, he then got up with her at 7am. He said his head hurt too much to sleep and he needed to get up and take something for it and once it got better in an hour or two he would come back to bed and it would be my turn to get up. So not entirely an unselfish reason but that is definitely an effort equal to many cups of tea and massages in my book!

    • Kevin says:

I’m seeing a blog post about the conversion rate of cups of tea, massages and getting up at 7am after networking… What does two cups of tea and a 20 minute massage get me?

      • Depends. Were you all Whiney McWhinerson about being tired and hungover? Or did you suck it up, take one for the team and put on your happy face? Cos if it’s the former then the tea and massage earn you nothing but a reprieve from the slap across the face that you’ve earned.

      • Kevin says:

What’s the exchange rate on saving my whining for when I got to work and getting it out of my system before I got home

  9. EssentiallyJess says:

Have you had any luck since applying Kelly’s principles? Cause I think if you had mixed them with mine from the other day, you should be good to go!
I gave up on Melissa George after she guest starred in Grey’s Anatomy.

  10. Caitlin says:

A reader just mentioned your name, and I was delighted to pop over here and discovered I’d won awards! Thanks for that. I am most proud of the “flexible on housework” award. If only I had it as a trophy. I would place it in my entry and point to it as people entered, just so they were impressed before they saw the cyclone of toys strewn everywhere. Anyhoo, off to check out your other links!

    • Kevin says:

Congrats on your award. Obviously fame and riches will follow. I’ve read your post out to a few people now and they all love it. Consider me a regular reader from now on!

  11. Ahhh yes Melissa – if she had the tools I would have called her a knob… instead I just wont speak to her anymore!

  12. Azara says:

I remember when 11PM was when the party was just getting started. I’ve always had trouble with the 6AM wake-ups – it’s just worse now because it’s preceded by a night of wild children rather than wild dancing. Boo.

  13. Kelly is totally hilarious! Have to admit I have no idea who Melissa George is though..

  14. Go Camping Australia Family says:

Thats a great idea to share other blogs you have enjoyed during the week! I might have to do that at some point too! All about sharing the blogging love!!
